You are EVERYTHING

Last night as I was driving home I found myself going over and over this mental list I've had for several months. It's my want list, my goals, places I want to go, the things I want to buy, or do, or be, etc. Anyways, I was singing along with my radio (KSBJ of course!!) and trying to reason myself into believing that some of my "wants" are actually "needs." It was like the list kept growing as, one by one, I reasoned each item's immediate necessity. All of a sudden I thought "wait, what was the line to that song I just sang?"...

"You are everything that I need, Lord"

Wow! What an amazing reminder!! I don't NEED anything! HE is everything we could ever "need"!!! (Ironically enough, I was misunderstanding the lyrics to the song just slightly, but I'm pretty sure God was doing that to me intentionally. It actually says, "you are everything that I live for") It's so easy to get caught up in worldy things and lose focus on the only thing that really matters. I felt like I should share that little reminder and that amazing song with everyone. Sometimes I just have to take a second to think about everything I DO have and I remember that my "have" list is sooooo much longer than any "want" or "need" list I could ever come up with! May we always remember that He is everything we could possibly need!

Changes

I'm sure it's obvious by the fact that I haven't posted in 3 weeks that we've been very busy lately!! This seems to be the case for us all the time. There have beena few changes taking place in the last few weeks that have occupied much of our time and thoughts. Here's a little update on what we've been doing.

Change #1:
While participating in my first ever garage sale (which was a crazy and very fun experience in itself! I'm glad my hubby and in-laws are such pros at them!!!), I got a call that the pretty new couch we bought had arrived. Naturally, it was a week earlier than expected when Darrin and my parents were unavailable to help. Martha and Eric kindly came over (THANK YOUUUUU!) and helped me take out the old and bring in the new (along with some assistance from our 3rd floor neighbor I had never even met!) Also, my Mimi and Poppy stopped by for a last minute visit and got to be the first visitors to sit on the new couch! We LOVE it and it fits our space (and style) much better than what we had previously.

Lucky Darrin, came home and it was all put together already!

The finished product!! Like our makeshift TV tray end tables? :)

Change #2:
Our sweet little babies had their "special" surgeries. (That's my nice way of referring to it) The poor things were so pitiful and sad, but thanks to lots of TLC seem to have recovered nicely. Judging by the fact that they've managed to chew through (and destroy!) my new laptop cord and are now fearless as to the heights they can jump to/from I'm thinking they are JUST FINE now! :) They have also grown sooo much! We were laughing last week at how much bigger they've gotten since we brought them home. At the same time, they've really learned who we are (their "Mommy" and "Daddy") and are soooo cute and cuddly with us!

Change #3 (the big one):
Darrin and I made the difficult decision for him not to continue down the path of insurance sales. This is certainly not a negative reflection on the way the business was run or his abilities while he was there, we just felt that this wasn't where God was calling him to be. So, he's back on the job hunting trail! He's going to work for Aeropostale in the mall part time until he finds something permanent. Please put his job search back on your prayer list. We know the Lord has something wonderful in store for him and for us, we just wish he would hurry up and show us!! :)

Change #4:
We had a wonderful visit from Brandon, Allison, and Baby Avaree this weekend. Brandon got to lead the worship portion of the service on Sunday while Grady was in Utah doing the IRON MAN triathalon!!! That's not the change though - the change is that they brought us the one essential piece from Ikea (don't get me started on Ikea!!) that we needed in order to put together the TV stand that's been on the floor in my closet for 3 months!! I'm so excited because not only can I walk into my closet again, but now all our TV cords and pieces are finally off the floor and in their places! (I love when things have a place!) Our living room looks entirely different now! :)

Yay!! Nothing on the floor!!

Sorry this was the world's LONGEST blog post ever! I'll try to update more frequently so they won't be as long each time! One last note - please pray for our sweet friend (and my former choir teacher) Janeth Ellis. She was recently diagnosed with aggressive, invasive, inflammatory ductal carcenoma. That's long for "breast cancer." We don't know a whole lot about her treatments, but know she is at MD Anderson and should be starting them very soon. Thanks!!
